
(WWJ) A heads up for drivers: Roadwork scheduled for Wednesday night is expected to tie up traffic along I-94 in Macomb County.
The Michigan Department of Transportation has announced overnight work on westbound I-94 between Metro Parkway/16 Mile and 12 Mile roads.
This will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m., continuing overnight until 6 a.m. on Thursday.
MDOT said there will be only one lane open with intermittent ramp closures between Metro/16 Mile and 12 Mile roads, adding: "Drivers can expect big delays and may want to avoid the area, if possible."
MDOT said this work will return next week, but no specifit dates and times were given.
Also, something else to keep in mind for later this week: MDOT announced that bridge maintenance work on eastbound I-696 between M-97/Groesbeck and M-3/Gratiot will leave two lanes open this Friday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., The M-97/Groesbeck ramp to eastbound 696 will be closed during this work.
