MILAN TOWNSHIP (WWJ) A freeway shooting on US-23 in Monroe County ends with a semi-truck driver behind bars.

Michigan State Police (MSP) said it happened on the northbound side of the freeway at Mile Marker 20 on Saturday, May 30, around 7:40 p.m.




Monroe County Central Dispatch received a call from the victim-- a 53-year-old man from Clinton Township. He was riding in a Hyundai with five other members of his family.

The caller said he was involved in a road rage incident with the semi-truck driver, when the suspect pulled a pistol and began firing it in their direction while following them.

Troopers arrived on scene and conducted an investigation. They took the semi-truck driver, a 33-year-old Clinton Township man, into custody at the Monroe County Jail.

According to MSP, there is no danger to the public.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Department, Village of Dundee Police Department, and Monroe Central Dispatch all assisted at the scene.
