(WBEN) - Family members of the boy who was found on a Buffalo porch over two months ago tell a TV station in Florida that the two people found inside a burned-out vehicle nearby were indeed the boy's parents.

The families of Nicole Plaud and Miguel Valentin-Colon told WFTV in Florida that Buffalo police confirmed the identity of the bodies to them in October, but that the family didn't get the remains until this month.

Valentin-Colon was buried in Puerto Rico and Plaud was cremated in Orlando. Investigators have not yet said how the couple was killed.

Their 3-year-old child was found alone in a box on a stranger's porch nearby, and has since been reunited with his grandparents in Central Florida.

Officials are still investigating the whereabouts of the third person who was with the couple and the child when they left Central Florida.
