FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) A Farmington Hills officer was hospitalized following a crash involving a suspected drunk driver, police said.

The Farmington Hills Public Safety Department said the officer was conducting a traffic stop on EB M-5 near Drake on Sunday, September 14, around 1 a.m. The at-fault driver, traveling eastbound, slammed into the parked patrol car.

The impact caused the at-fault driver's vehicle to spin out; and it was hit head-on by another vehicle, also traveling eastbound, authorities said.

The officer and two drivers were taken to the hospital. They have "minor injuries" and are "expected to make a full recovery," according to police.

Officers arrested the at-fault driver for operating under the influence.

"We would like to remind all drivers that they are required to slow down or move over for emergency vehicles," police said in a statement. "We are grateful no one was seriously injured or killed in this crash."
