The FBI said agents arrested Isaac Sissel in Canton Township on Monday, but officials say he is an Ann Arbor resident.
Unsealed documents show Sissel was accused of making threats against former President Donald Trump on Reddit, a popular online forum.
Among the threats were one that read: "I shall carry out an attack against conservative Christian filth in the event trump wins the election. I have a stolen ar15 and a target I refused to name so I can continue to get away with my plans. Without a specific victim or ability to find the place I hid the gun, there's not a thing the FBI can do until I complete the attack," documents show.
The threat allegedly said the attacker would use an AR-15, hollow-point ammunition and a chemical irritant, according to an FBI agent quoted in the documents.
"Sissel also stated that former President Trump was a threat, a 'piece of s---' that should have been assassinated, and that everything would be better if Trump was dead," the agent continued. "Sissel said that he wouldn't kill Trump, but if he knew someone was going to assassinate Trump that it was his (Sissel's) duty to not intervene.
Federal agents didn't find any weapons or ammunition in Sissel's hotel room, the documents state.
Separately, a second man, 46-year old Christopher Pierce of Jackson, Michigan, was arrested after making threats to two Political Action Committees helping Vice President Kamala Harris.
“This year proves Kamala Harrisis [sic] nothing but a f------ communist piece of f------ s--- and doesn’t deserve to f------ even be in the race tobecome [sic] president,” one of the threats, sent over Instagram, allegedly read. “Now you better stop or I promise you this is badly for all of you m------------.”
On Oct. 30, agents questioned Piece and he admitted sending the threats, according to the affidavit.
