ROYAL OAK TOWNSHIP (WWJ) Troopers arrested a convicted felon for possession of a stolen gun and other charges in Royal Oak Township, State Police said.
In a statement on X, Michigan State Police Second District said they stopped a vehicle on Sunday around 2:50 a.m. on Wyoming Avenue for a seatbelt violation and illegal window tint.
A Ferndale man (the driver), 28, got out of his car "immediately" as troopers approached. One of the troopers saw a pistol on the driver's floorboard, State Police said.

Troopers detained the driver and four passengers.
Investigators searched the car and found open intoxicants. The driver admitted to police he's a convicted felon, and investigation revealed the gun had been stolen, according to State Police.
Troopers arrested the man for having the stolen firearm and ammunition, felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and driving with a suspended license.
One of the passengers was arrested for false information and open intoxicants. Troopers released the others. Prosecutors are reviewing the case.
