FERNDALE (WWJ) – A man is in police custody after trying to rob a bank in Downtown Ferndale Monday morning.
The suspect walked into the Huntington Bank on 9 Mile Road just west of Woodward Avenue around 11 a.m., according to Ferndale police.
The suspect slipped a note to the teller demanding money, implying he had a weapon.
He took a large amount of cash, but he didn't get far. The suspect was arrested while he was still inside the bank, officials said.
No one was injured during the robbery and the money was recovered. It was not immediately clear whether the suspect actually had a weapon.
Authorities have not released the suspect's name, age or hometown. While the investigation continues, the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office is reviewing possible charges.
