LANSING (WWJ) More than 38% of registered voters in Michigan cast their ballot to-date in the 2024 Presidential Election, according to the Secretary of State.
Statistics released by the Michigan Secretary of State (SOS) said over 1.9 million voters have returned absentee ballots and over 879,000 have participated in early voting as of noon Saturday (11/2).
Michigan has over 7.2 million active registered voters, according to the SOS.
WWJ’s Jon Hewett reported from the early voting site at Costick Activities Center in Farmington Hills where the line was already 70 to 80 people deep by 9 a.m. Saturday.
“It’s has been too much,” Jay of Farmington Hills told Hewett while standing in line. “Everyday, all day, all the rhetoric from both sides.”
Hewett reported: while the voters at the polling site on 11 Mile near Middlebelt are split on many issues, they agreed the rhetoric of the political advertising became too heated on both sides of the aisle. They added they would prefer the coverage and campaigning to focus more on policy in future elections.
Another man told Hewett he showed up at 5:30 a.m., three hours before the polls opened, to secure the first place in line.
Early voting ends tomorrow, Sunday, November 3rd.

All absentee ballots must be received at your local clerk’s office by 8 p.m. on Election Day in order to be counted. It is too late to submit your absentee ballot via mail as it will likely not arrive to its destination by that time.
Instead, you can submit your absentee ballot via a secure drop box in your jurisdiction, by hand-delivering it to your local clerk’s office, or by tabulation at an early voting or Election Day polling location.
Military and overseas voters must postmark their ballots by Election Day—and they must be received within six days of.
To ensure your absentee ballot is counted; follow the instructions provided with it and sign the envelope in the correct place. The SOS says you should use a similar signature to the one that's on your driver’s license, State ID, or voter registration application.
