DETROIT (WWJ) A fire caused the collapse of an abandoned home on Detroit’s north end.

Detroit Fire officials (DFD) said they received the call of a dwelling fire on John R at Rosedale Court, in the area of Woodward and Brush, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 19.

According to DFD, callers initially reported the fire in a commercial building—but upon arrival, crews learned the flames burned in a vacant home.

“Crews worked initially inside to extinguish the fire, but were pulled out for safety reasons & took a defensive posture,” DFD spokesperson, Corey McIsaac, said in a statement to WWJ.

The structure collapsed. Therefore, primary and secondary searches could not be completed, DFD said.

No injuries were reported.
