TROY (WWJ) A small church in Troy went up in flames, leaving the building destroyed.
Authorities said the fire broke out on Thursday, August 6, around 3:15 a.m. at the Troy Church of Christ on Trombley Road, near Rochester Road and Big Beaver Road.
WWJ's Charlie Langton reports the church, built in 1958, is "totally gone."
This leaves a congregation of about 50 people looking for a new place to worship.
"We're going to reach out to a few of the facilities here in Troy to see if we can rent some facilities for our worship," Minister Emanuel Florescu said. "The church is not the building, the church is the people."
No one was injured.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
