(WWJ) A flight headed to Detroit Metro Airport was forced to make an unscheduled landing due to an unruly passenger.

Officials said a SkyWest flight, that took off in Omaha, Nebraska, had to be diverted to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at around 6:15 p.m. Thursday as the crew dealt with an in-air disturbance involving a passenger.

According to Cedar Rapids Police, the passenger — 23-year-old Mario Nikprelaj of Nebraska — was arrested at the Eastern Iowa Airport and booked in the Linn County, Iowa, Correctional Center.

He is charged with disorderly conduct, assault, possession of prescription medication, and harassment.

Reports said it's alleged that Nikprelaj had tried to open an exit row door, although police did not confirm that detail.

The investigation is ongoing.

The plane carrying 67 passengers and four crewmember eventually made it to its destination, landing Metro Airport, about three hours behind schedule.
