DETROIT (WWJ) -- The weather in Southeast Michigan over the next few days will be a bit of a wild ride, forecasters say.

Temperatures creeped Wednesday in Metro Detroit, highs reaching around 40 degrees.

AccuWeather says temps dipped a bit Wednesday night, before they're expect to spiked way up on Thursday — when it could get as warm as 50 degrees.

But, don't store your mittens away.

AccuWeather Meteorologist Joe Lundberg said that when cold front moves in Thursday night, temperatures will drop back down, spending time in the 20s on Friday.

"Then we jump back up to 40-plus on Saturday; then it's cold again on Sunday," Lundberg said.

"You know, kind of back and forth — not the persistent every day well below normal. So, at least there's some modicum of improvement."

As for precipitation, much of Metro Detroit will see a mix.

Forecasters say there will be some wind along with rain in the forecast on Thursday, with rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.50 inch anticipated, according to the National Weather Service.

Lundberg warned that wet areas could easily become icy as temperatures drop late on Thursday.

On Friday, some areas could see a little snow in the morning.
