EAST LANSING (WWJ) A former Michigan State University resident physician, accused of sexually assaulting two patients, is in custody and awaiting extradition from Georgia.
University officials say authorities arrested Arpit Saxena, 39, on charges of criminal sexual conduct at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Thursday, September 10.
MSU Police Chief Mike Yankowski said the investigation started in April of 2025, after police spoke with a woman at a MSU Healthcare Facility on Hagadorn.
"The victim informed MSU police that she had just left her appointment at the MSU Medical Facility and she reported she had been sexually assaulted by the resident physician who examined and treated her," Yankowski said.
According to Yankowski, the department identified at least two victims, but fear there may be more.
"(The second woman) also stated she was sexually assaulted by the accused individual during one of her medical appointments," he said.
MSU said they dismissed Yankowski after the allegations surfaced and apologized to all of those affected.
"Patients deserve to be treated with dignity, respect and professionalism, and we regret that this trust was broken," the university wrote in a statement. "We are deeply sorry for the harm this has caused and apologize to those affected by this abuse. We understand the impact these acts have on members of our community, and we extend our empathy and care."

A violation was first reported in April 2025 and the college and university took prompt action to remove the individual from patient care and initiate the appropriate reporting processes.
