
(WWJ) Four men linked to hundreds of vehicle thefts have been arrested, according to the Michigan Attorney General's Office.
Announcing the arrests on Tuesday, Attorney General Dana Nessel said the charges stem from a large auto theft ring that targets new car storage lots, dealerships, parking lots and homes in Southeast Michigan.
The four suspects are accused of carrying out more than a dozen thefts in 2024, by using counter-surveillance to steal the vehicles quickly, and then ramming security vehicles if confronted.
Investigators said the stolen cars were sold for cheap on the black market.
The Troy Police Department, investigating this crime ring since August 2023, partnered with the FORCE Team in early 2024 to bring down what the AG's office called "this expansive criminal organization."
All four suspects are from Detroit and were charged with conducting a criminal enterprise and several counts of receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle.
“With these charges, we are one step closer to dismantling an active, violent, and prolific criminal organization responsible for the thefts of hundreds of vehicles across our state,” Nessel said. “I’d like to thank the prosecutors from my FORCE Team and all our law enforcement partners. Their tireless efforts over the past year have been instrumental in combatting auto thefts and protecting our communities.”
The suspects charged are as follows:
- Davonta Jones, 31, who was additionally charged with eight counts of Receiving and Concealing a Stolen Motor Vehicle.
- Donovan Tucker, 22, who has been additionally charged with eight counts of Receiving and Concealing a Stolen Motor Vehicle.
- Davion Tucker, 21, of Detroit, who has been additionally charged with seven counts of Receiving and Concealing a Stolen Motor Vehicle.
- Timothy Bell, 23, of Detroit, who has been additionally charged with 10 counts of Receiving and Concealing a Stolen Motor Vehicle.
All four were arranged last Friday, and each ordered held on a $500,000 cash/surety only bond.
The AG said this remains an ongoing investigation.
