Four suspects remain at-large after shooting at Farmington Hills apartment complex

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (WWJ) - One Farmington Hills man is recovering after being shot in an burglary attempt involving four suspects at his apartment complex on Friday evening.

Farmington Hills Police said they are searching for the four suspects, who approached the victim just before 6 p.m. Friday night at Fairmont Park Apartments off 9 Mile and Gill Rd.

The victim told police that three black males and one black female all wearing ski masks came up to him and tried to rob him. When the victim resisted, he was shot. The victim was able to see the suspects fleeing in a newer silver Ford Fusion.

The man was taken to a local hospital and treated for his injuries. No further update on his condition has been made available.

Video footage from the apartment complex obtained by police captured a silver Ford Fusion with heavy damage in the rear end and dark tinted windows leaving the area after the shooting.

Police are searching for the vehicle which is wanted in connection with the shooting.

“This is a fluid investigation, with Detectives actively tracking down leads and working to identify the suspects," Farmington Hills Police Chief Jeff King said in a press release.

Authorities believe the victim was specifically targeted in the attack. Although the incident is still under investigation, police said there is no threat to others at the time. Patrols have been increased in the area as a precaution.

Police has asked for the community to stay vigilant and to call authorities if they believe they have seen the suspect's vehicle. Witnesses to the crime have also been asked to come forward. Any information can be made with the Farmington Hills Police Department Command Desk at 248-871-2610.
