FRASER (WWJ) – Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido says "the nonsense needs to stop" after a student was charged Tuesday for allegedly threatening to bomb his school after an argument with the principal.
The 15-year-old has been charged with a threat of terrorism, a 20-year felony, and resisting and obstructing, a 2-year felony, according to the prosecutor's office.
The charges stem from an incident on Monday, according to a report from the Macomb Daily. The student allegedly made the threat via text messaging app following the alleged argument with the principal. Authorities have not revealed what sparked the argument.
The exact language of the alleged threat is not clear.
"This nonsense needs to stop! Students need to refrain from making these threats and ruining their futures," Lucido said in a press release.
During the teen's preliminary hearing on Tuesday, the referee followed the prosecutor's recommendation that bond be denied.
The court also ordered a mental health evaluation for the teen.
The teen, whose name was not released, will be held at the Juvenile Justice Center at least until the next court proceeding.
The case comes in the midst of a flood of threats and false threats against Metro Detroit schools over the past year since the Oxford High School shooting.
