A Detroit man died early Friday morning after losing control of his car along I-96 and crashing, according to Michigan State Police.
The driver, 46, was in the local lanes of eastbound I-96 when he lost control as he was nearing the Davison Avenue exit just before 1 a.m. The vehicle hit a utility pole on the enbankment and rolled over, according to police.
The man was ejected from the vehicle and died at the hospital.
“As we are approaching the summer driving season this crash serves as a reminder to buckle up.” said Michigan State Police First Lieutenant Mike Shaw.
The freeway was closed for an investigation, but has since re-opened.
