DETROIT (WWJ) -- A freeway shooting on M-10/The Lodge on Detroit’s west side left a rideshare driver and a teen in critical condition.
Michigan State Police (MSP) said, in a social media statement, the shooting happened on the northbound side of the freeway near Wyoming on Saturday, January 3, around 9:05 a.m.
According to authorities; a Hamtramck man, 30, in a rideshare car entered the northbound Lodge from Livernois. An unknown suspect fired at the vehicle multiple times, striking both the driver and his passenger, a 17-year-old Detroit boy.
MSP said the rideshare driver stopped on Meyers Road while the suspect fled the scene. The victims were rushed to the hospital with “several gunshot wounds.”
Both victims are in critical condition.
“Troopers are currently working to determine the motive for this shooting,” MSP First Lieutenant Mike Shaw said. “They are using technology along the victims’ route to attempt to identify a suspect vehicle.”
As of Monday morning, there were still no suspects in custody.
