HILLSDALE TWP. (WWJ) -- A 26-year-old man is in the Hilldale County Jail after he was tracked down and arrested by the Michigan State Police First District Fugitive Team.

At around 1 p.m. Tuesday, said the Fugitive Team responded to the Baw Beese Inn in Hillsdale Township, along with the Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team, with a warrant to search a room for a wanted fugitive.

The Calhoun County man, whose name was not immediately released, had a warrant for his arrest out of Jackson County.

The fugitive was found in a vehicle, MSP said, and in the vehicle police also found an "explosive device."

The Michigan State Police Bomb Squad responded to the scene and secured the device. MSP did not say exactly what it was.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect was taken to jail, "pending additional charges regarding this on-going investigation," police said, in a release.

MSP was also assisted at the scene by the Hillsdale Township Fire Department.
