There was a long line of cars, trucks and SUVs on McNichols Road in Detroit Wednesday morning. The reason, free gas.
The owner of Big Moe 6 Mile Gas Station at McNichols and Schaefer Hwy in Detroit was giving away free gas early Wednesday. The giveaway was scheduled to run from 6 a.m. until 9 a.m. or about 250 vehicles.
Detroit police were on the scene to help direct traffic as the line of cars stretched for about a mile, according to WWJ's Charlie Langton.
"We are family here, we not just a gas station, we are a family oriented business, when you come in we have nothing but smiles here," one worker told Langton.
"We love what you're doing," one driver said. "I wish you could do it every two weeks."
With gas prices averaging $4.08 a gallon in Michigan, according to AAA Michigan, the owner says it's one good thing for the community.
