DETROIT (WWJ) -- Gas prices are soaring across Metro Detroit, jumping 30 cents from last week.

WWJ's Charlie Langton reports that fuel is costing people anywhere from $3.59 to $3.89 Thursday morning, and at a Citgo gas station on Detroit's west side the price jumped 20 cents in just 30 minutes right in front of his eyes.

The current per gallon average for WWJ's listening area is at $3.72 for regular unleaded, according to AAA -- just like week it was at $3.39.

As cars lined up at the Citgo station on 6 Mile and Schaefer for a great deal -- $3.39 per gallon -- the owner bumped it up to $3.59 because he said he was losing too much money.

Although the prices are increasing as the hours go by, some Metro Detroiters have accepted it.

"The prices are ridiculous but we still have to go to work -- we still have to do what we have to do," said resident, Eric Adams.
