SOUTH LYON, Mich. (WWJ) – Lockdown orders have been lifted and student dismissal is underway after an apparent threat written on a bathroom wall at East High School in South Lyon on Monday.
Superintendent Steven Archibald sent an email to parents Monday afternoon, saying "graffiti" had been found in a girls' bathroom, prompting the lockdown.
It was not exactly clear what message the graffiti contained or if it was a credible threat.
Parents waited in line to pick up their students for more than two hours Monday afternoon as authorities searched the school.
Authorities had not said whether anything was found during the search.
All after-school activities at the school on Monday were canceled.
Students who take the bus were told to meet in the commons.
Metro Detroit saw a rash of school lockdowns and false threats last month in the wake of the Oxford High School shooting, which left four students dead and seven other people wounded.
