Grand Rapids Community College alerts students after man attempted to grope 16-year-old near campus

Students and staff were told to stay alert and cautious after an attempted groping incident was reported by a teen near Grand Rapids Community College on Tuesday.

GRAND RAPIDS (WWJ) - Students and staff were told to stay alert and cautious after an attempted groping incident was reported by a teen near Grand Rapids Community College on Tuesday.

The West Michigan school said a 16-year-old girl was near the Grand Rapids Public Library at 111 Library St. around 5:45 p.m. on Feb. 28 when a man tried to grab her crotch area.

The girl was turn away and call 911 immediately, school officials added. The suspect was described as a male wearing an aviator hat and a white and black fall jacket.

The incident on the westside of the state comes days after the Ann Arbor Police Department announced they were investigating two sexual assault incidents that happened within five minutes near the University of Michigan's North Campus on Sunday.

In both cases, the women were able to get away from the suspects and reported the incident to police. It isn't known in the two cases are related.
