DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide on the city's west side.
Officers responded after shots rang out early Thursday morning at a home on Griggs Ave., in the area of 8 Mile Rd. and Wyoming, and found two people dead.
A family member told WWJ Newsradio 950's Charlie Langton said a young man fatally shot his grandmother, and then took his own life.
Police did confirm that two people died, but it's not known what led up to the shooting, and officials are not releasing further details at this time.
Detroit Police Homicide detectives were on the scene, later in the morning.
No names or ages have been released, as the investigation continues.
