GROSSE POINTE FARMS (WWJ) -- Police are asking for the public's help to identify a suspect involved in an overnight home invasion.
According to the Grosse Pointe Farms Department of Public Safety, an intruder entered a home near Grosse Pointe Blvd. and Hendrie Lane sometime between May 25 and May 26.
Investigators said the suspect entered the residence through an unlocked front door and was later found inside by the homeowner.
Surveillance footage shows the suspect was on the property between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Authorities believe he entered and exited the neighborhood through an unsecured private street security gate.
The suspect is described as a heavy-set Black man between 20 and 30 years old, with shoulder-length black dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing a green t-shirt, black shorts with a white stripe, white shoes, and a black baseball cap featuring a white letter "P" on the front.
No vehicle information is currently available.
With this incident in mind, police remind residents to lock all doors, windows, and access gates, particularly during overnight hours.
