GRAND RAPIDS (WWJ) - The Grand Rapids Police Department has released the body camera footage of an officer-involved shooting.

The footage was released on March 4. A Fox 17 article included the press conference held by the GRPD addressing the incident and the footage.

Two Grand Rapids Police Department Special Response Unit officers made a traffic stop in the 1900 block of S. Division Avenue at 11:44 p.m. on March 2.

A man fled from the passenger side of the vehicle after it pulled into a parking lot. The man ran down an alley with officers running behind him.

The man ran between two houses in the 1900 block of Horton Avenue SE. He allegedly "produced a semi-automatic handgun and fired multiple rounds in the direction of the two officers who were chasing him," according to a statement from the Grand Rapids Police Department.

"Both officers also returned fire with their department issued handguns," the statement said. "No officers were struck by gunfire."

The man fled the area and authorities said they are still searching for him.

The suspect is described as a "light skinned black or Hispanic male wearing khaki pants and a black puffy coat with a hood," the statement said.

As part of the procedure after an officer-involved shooting, both officers are on administrative leave while the Michigan State Police investigate the shooting.
