AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) A shooting at Great Lakes Crossing Outlet Mall in Auburn Hills ended with one dead and another injured.
Auburn Hills Police said the gunfire broke out on Saturday, July 11, at the mall near I-75 and Baldwin.
They said a Pontiac man, 20, and a Detroit man, 22, got into an altercation inside the food court bathroom that spilled out into the main food court.
According to authorities, the Pontiac man and an unknown man attacked the Detroit man in the food court common area.
The Detroit man, a Concealed Pistol License Holder, pulled his hidden weapon and opened fire.
The deceased — since identified by family members as 20-year-old KeShawn Emery of Pontiac, found dead inside a clothing store near the Rainforest Cafe.
A Pontiac woman, 19, was caught in the crossfire. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police evacuated the entire mall "out of an abundance of caution" and took the shooter into custody.
They said he's cooperating with the investigation.
Kelly Randazzo of Warren said she was walking out of the mall when the gunfire broke out.
"We see police officers rushing into the mall with rifles, other police officers are pulling up," Randazzo told WWJ. "...People are rushing out, screaming, crying..."
Great Lakes Crossing Outlet Mall was closed throughout Saturday night, and reopened Sunday morning.
On Monday, the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office reviewing potential charges, while considering whether this could be a case of self-defense.
