HAZEL PARK (WWJ) -- A Hazel Park father accused of breaking the bones of his newborn son has been arraigned on child abuse charges.

Hazel Park Police said they were called to the home of 20-year-old Cody Patterson last Thursday, after on reports of baby with a broken arm.

Doctors later found the 4-week-old boy had fractures to both arms, both legs, his ribs, bruising on his face, and other injuries at different stages of healing.

Investigators said Patterson told them he gets frustrated and can't cope when the baby cries... so he took the infant into the bathroom, and forcibly squeezed and manipulated his limbs.

The baby remains hospitalized, and Child Protective Services was notified.

Peterson was booked in the Oakland County Jail and arraigned in Hazel Park District Court Monday on three counts of Second-Degree Child Abuse. Bond was set at $500,000 cash or surety.

He could face a decade in prison if he's convicted as charged.
