MACKINAC (WWJ) -- Fire has badly damaged a historic home on Mackinac Island.
WWJ's Jim Matthews reports that Brigadoon Cottage broke out in flames around 6:00 p.m. on Sunday night.
Witnesses say that the Mackinac Island Fire Department was on the scene within minutes and were able to contain the blaze, with the house's roof sustaining the most damage.
There were no injuries reported in the fire, and the surrounding structures appear as though they weren't affected.
The Victorian-era private residence is located next to the yacht club on Main Street, near the Island House.
While Mackinac Island famously does not allow automobiles, a handful of emergency vehicles are permitted, including fire engines, an ambulance, police cars, and a few public works vehicles.
The cause of the fire is unknown and the situation remains under investigation.
