(WWJ) – Last week federal authorities announced charges against three Nigerian men in an international online “sextortion” case that led to the death of 17-year-old Jordan DeMay, of Marquette, Michigan.
Authorities say the men posed as young women and enticed their victims to send sexually compromising photos of themselves, then blackmailed the victims for money. DeMay took his own life after falling victim to the alleged scheme.
On this Daily J podcast, WWJ’s Zach Clark takes a look at the case and dives into the dark underworld of so-called sextortion and how law enforcement officials are working to stop the rising international crime spree.
More information on the case is available on the U.S. Attorney of the Western District of Michigan website.
