(WWJ) – Heading into the 2022 Midterm Elections, there were expectations of a so-called “red wave” – a surge of Republican victories here in Michigan and across the country.

But instead, Democrats were the ones making waves, with sweeping results across the state, and for the first time in nearly 40 years taking control of the Michigan legislature.
