Police investigating after human remains are found in woods near Flint Township Walmart

FLINT TWP. (WWJ) -- An investigation is underway in the Flint area after a body was found in a wooded area Friday morning.

According to the Flint Township Police Department, officers responded early Friday to the area of Dutcher Road near Taft Road after human remains were found in the woods. According to local TV station ABC-12, the scene is located near the Walmart store on Corunna Road.

With help from the Michigan State Police Crime Lab, investigators worked through the morning hours to collect evidence and process the scene, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, as police are still working to identify the person and discover how they died.

It's unknown how long the body was in the woods, and police did not immediately release a description or other details about the person.

At this time, it's still unclear if foul play is suspected in this case.
