
ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Police say they're on the hunt for a suspect who allegedly walked into a bank in Royal Oak and took an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene on Tuesday.
The Royal Oak Police Department said they were made aware of the reported armed robbery around 4:40 p.m. on Sep. 27, at the Huntington Bank located at 4609 Crooks.
According to police, an employee called 911 to report the robbery.
An initital investigaton by detectives revealed a male suspect entered the bank and demanded money from the teller while suggesting he had a firearm under his jacket.
Police said the suspect was given a sum of cash and he quickly left the bank.
No injuries were reported in the incident, authorities added.
A K9 police unit responded to the scene and was able to track the suspect to a nearby road, but the trail was lost. Police believe the suspect escaped in an unknown vehicle.
Authorities describe the alleged bank robber as a black male standing 5’ 10" tall and weighing 120 to 130 lbs. He was said to be wearing a black jacket with a hood over his head, a black mask over his face, olive green sweatpants and white gym shoes with possible tattoos on his wrists.
