MACKINAC ISLAND (WWJ) A Huntington Woods woman died in a bicycle crash with a carriage on Mackinac Island.
In a press release, Mackinac Island Police said they were dispatched to the area of Main Street and Bogan Lane for a bicycle/carriage crash on Wednesday (8/21), around 2:15 p.m. Investigators determined the Huntington Woods woman was riding westbound on her bicycle when a carriage, traveling in the opposite direction, struck her.
Police did not give any more details about the circumstances leading up to the crash.
The bicyclist, 77, was rushed to McLaren Hospital in Petosky where doctors listed her in serious condition, police said.
She later died of her injuries.
Her name has not yet been released.
It’s unclear if anyone in the carriage was hurt.
