ROMULUS (WWJ) -- A Wayne County man is facing murder and other felony charges after authorities say he killed his girlfriend during an argument.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged 30-year-old Nathan Jordan-Donald Barks of Huron Township in connection with the fatal shooting of 36-year-old Dawn Sinkey, also of Huron Township.
Responding to a 911 call o a home in the 27430 block of Bordeau St., just west of Inkster Rd., at 1:15 p.m. last Sunday, Huron Township police officers found Sinkey suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
She was taken by EMS to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Following an investigation, it is alleged that the couple was arguing when the situation escalated, Barks drew a handgun and shot Sinkey.
He fled the scene, prosecutors said, but has since been taken into custody.
Barks was scheduled to be arraigned in 34th District Court in Romulus on Thursday on one count of Second-Degree Murder, one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and two counts of Felony Firearm.
He faces up to life in prison if convicted as charged.
