NOVI (WWJ) - Major traffic troubles on I-96 in Oakland County appear to be working itself out nearly an hour after authorities reopened the westbound lanes that were closed over a crash.

The westbound lanes of I-96 in the Flex Zone are now passable after witnesses reported a box truck had overturned near Milford Road -- but the going is still slow.

"From Novi to Brighton... you're sitting there from Beck [Road]," WWJ's traffic reporer KT said. "It's an hour wait in this back up."

Drivers also jammed Grand River heading westbound as well, with slow pockets the entire stretch.

"It's a flipped over box truck," KT explained. "Construction crews using one of their cranes to turn it upright and it's adding to the gawking from the eastbound side that has you jammed from before Pleasant Valley."

KT said the eastbound lanes are clear, but there was a 30 minute wait from Pleasant Valley to Milford due to people slowing down to see the crews work to clear the scene on the other side of the freeway.

The go is slow, but is excepted to clear up entirely as traffic begins moving through the area.

At this time, the cause of the crash remains unknown. It wasn't immediately clear if anyone was hurt in the incident.
