PONTIAC (WWJ) -- A 30-year-old man was killed, early Thursday morning, when his motorcycle slid off the road while snow was falling in Pontiac.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, Nicholas Miner was driving his 2016 Yamaha east on Montcalm near Glenwood, just before 2:30 a.m., when he lost control of the bike, hit the curb and was ejected.

Miner, who is a Pontiac resident, was taken by EMS to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.

An investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit said icy pavement was a factor in the crash, and that alcohol apparently also played a role.

The sheriff's office noted that Miner was wearing a helmet.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no one else was hurt.
