(WWJ) One might say this Mid-Michigan deputy does his duty 'til the cows come home.
An Ingham County Sheriff's deputy turned cowboy on Friday, after a traffic call came in about "eight cows loose on the road" south of Mason.
ICOS said in a Facebook post that the department's transport unit was nice enough to jump the call, as all county units were tied up on other calls.
"After a brief surveillance operation, the cows were located, 'wrangled' by Deputy Calkins, and walked about three miles back to their home," the sheriff's office wrote.
Video courtesy of Sgt. Gengler — who was the tail car on what the department says was a two-hour operatio — showed the deputy working with another man to accompany the bovines down the street, redirecting them a bit when they went off course.
"All in a days work I guess!" the sheriff's office added.
It's unclear how the cows escaped their enclosure.
Mason is located about 12 miles southeast of Lansing, and about 88 miles northwest of Detroit.
