OAKLAND TWP. (WWJ) -- A Rochester Hills man is dead and two women are in critical condition after a crash in Oakland Township Friday morning.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the initial investigation by the Crash Reconstruction Unit found that a 65-year-old man driving a Ford Escape crossed the center line on Rochester Road, near Buell Road, at around 5:45 a.m.
He crashed head-on into a Subaru Outback with two people on board: a 49-year-old woman from Imlay City, and a 56-year-old woman from Almont. Both women were rushed to a local hospital where they remained in critical condition later in the day.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene. His name was not released.
The investigation is ongoing, as officials say they're still not sure why the driver crossed into congoing traffic.
With autopsy results from the Oakland County Medical Examiner are still pending, the OCSO said at this time it does not appear that the crash was caused by a medical emergency.
