(WWJ) – Nuclear war and the resulting fallout have been worldwide fears for decades. But with the Russian invasion of Ukraine – the second in eight years – is the threat of nuclear escalation at an all-time high?

While Russian President Vladimir Putin has threatened the West with nuclear war throughout the invasion, it seems to have increased in recent months. But just how much has that risk escalated since the start of the year? Experts aren't necessarily convinced by the veiled threats.
