JD Vance to deliver remarks at Auburn Hills business one day after Vice Presidential Debate

AUBURN HILLS (WWJ/AP) Republican Vice Presidential Nominee, Ohio Senator JD Vance, will be stopping by Metro Detroit on Wednesday.

Vance is scheduled to deliver remarks at Visioneering—an aerospace supplier company— at their Auburn Hills location. Doors are slated to open at 11:30 a.m. for his 1:30 p.m. remarks at the business on Taylor near I-75 and Lapeer.

This will be Vance’s second appearance in Michigan in a week. He most recently spoke at the at the Northwestern Michigan Fairgrounds in Traverse City on Wednesday, September 25th.

According to a press release from the Trump/Vance campaign; Vance is expected to focus his speech on former President Trump’s plan to bolster Michigan economy, including providing incentives for businesses that make their products in America.

“Michiganders know the value of products Made in America. Michigan built the auto industry with American companies, American products, and American workers,” the press release said. “Whether it's Michigan made cars or supporting local small businesses, Michiganders value American made goods.”

On the other side of the aisle; Democrat Vice Presidential Nominee, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, attended the Michigan-Minnesota football game at the Big House in Ann Arbor Saturday (9/28) to meet with and appeal to young college-aged voters. He also campaigned near Michigan State University earlier this month. Michigan's youth voter turnout (ages 18 to 29) was 36.5% in 2022, 13 percentage points over the national average; according to to CIRCLE (Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement at Tufts University).

Michigan is a key swing state in the 2024 election, leading both Vice President Harris and Former President Trump (as well as their running mates) to make several stops here.

Vance’s appearance in Michigan will come the day after the vice presidential candidates face off in their first, and likely only, televised public debate--hosted and televised by CBS News. CBS Evening News anchor Norah O'Donell and "Face The Nation"'s Margaret Brennan will moderate the debate.
