MUNISING TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- There was an amazing rescue on Lake Superior at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore this week.
Kayakers were out on the water in the Upper Peninsula around noon on Wednesday when they spotted a whitetail deer -- a fawn -- swimming in the lake and struggling.
The group paddled over to the fawn and after a few attempts, managed to pull it on board one of the kayaks.
They then transported the animal close to the shore, letting the baby deer out into the shallow water so it could go safely onto land.
