(WWJ) Multiple vehicles are being recalled due to risk of fire.

WWJ Auto Beat Reporter Jeff Gilbert reported that Hyundai and Kia are recalling nearly 3.4 million vehicles in the U.S. over concerns of engine compartment fires.

The recalls involve multiple models from 2010-2019, including the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Optima.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says the anti-lock brake control unit may leak and cause a short which can start a fire while the vehicles are in motion or parked.

Dealerships will replace the affected fuse free of charge. Owners of recalled vehicles will be notified by mail in November.

Hyundia and Kia are recommending that owners of affected vehicles park outdoors and away from structures until the issue is repaired.

Owners may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1800-424-9153) or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
