MINOT, N.D. (WWJ) – Roughly 18,000 Kid Rock fans showed up to see him perform at the North Dakota State Fair Friday night, but were disappointed when severe weather in the area prompted officials to call the show off.

Many of those fans were very disappointed. Videos posted to social media show fans hurling beer and debris at the stage as the raucous crowd booed after learning the news.

One man was even seen running on stage, only to be tackled by a security guard.

Some fan videos posted to Twitter captured strong language towards security near the front of the stage, with some fans even throwing beer directly at them.

State Fair officials said on Twitter Friday night the show was called off “due to the safety concerns of the high winds, lightning and severe weather in the area,” noting ticket holders will be refunded.

While a sheriff’s deputy made the announcement in front of the crowd, the sheriff’s department said on Twitter it was not their call to cancel the show. It was not clear who made the final decision, though the Michigan rocker said himself on Twitter he was “pissed off” that the show could not be played.

Fans on social media said rides and other attractions remained open after the cancelation of the show, despite the severe weather.
