(WWJ) A car crash in mid-Michigan claimed a Lansing woman's life.

The Isabella County Sheriff's Office said their deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on Saturday (7/13) around 5:03 p.m. on Winn Road near Ellis in Nottawa Township—about 15 miles northwest of Mount Pleasant.

A man, 77, and a woman, 76, were entrapped in their 2003 GMC Envoy when deputies arrived; the sheriff's office said.

Fire crews used extrication equipment to remove them from the vehicle.

Investigation determined that the driver of a Volkswagen, 20 of Weidam, was traveling south on Winn Road when he veered into the oncoming traffic lane and struck the Envoy. The 77-year-old man was driving the Envoy with his wife in the passenger seat.

Paramedics rushed all three people involved to MyMichigan Emergency Department in Midland.

According to the sheriff's office; the driver of the Volkswagen sustained non-life-threatening injuries and the driver of the Envoy sustained serious injuries. The woman died of her injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Her name has not been released.
