It's the last day for Michigan workers affected by pandemic to apply for $1,650 grants

Monday, Jan. 25, 2021, is the final day that applications will be accepted for Employee Assistance Grants grants totaling $45 million, earmarked for certain Michigan workers who are struggling to pay their bills during the pandemic.

These special payments are meant to help offset some of the financial loss — through furlough, layoff, or job loss, or a reduction of hours because of the virus — for Michiganders who work in hospitality, in entertainment, recreation, accommodation, food service and fitness sectors.

Who is eligible to apply for the Employee Assistance Grants?

Employees who were impacted by the state health department's Nov. 18 Gathering and Face Mask Order, who work in the following industries:

• Restaurants
• Hotels & Motels
• Bed & Breakfast
• Resorts
• Bars
• Food Trucks
• Bowling Alleys
• Theaters
• Nightclubs
• Golf Courses
• Banquet Halls
• Caterers
• Casinos
• Cafeterias
• Other impacted industries
