OAKLAND COUNTY (WWJ) -- Slow, but steady progress is being made in the cleanup of legionella bacteria in Oakland County.

County officials providing a positive update on the cleanup efforts. Legionella bacteria was detected in just one sample taken from the Oakland County Circuit Court Tower, down from three positive samples just a few weeks ago.

Meanwhile, no bacteria was found while testing the east and west wings of the courthouse complex, nor at the medical examiner's office.

Officials say all county buildings continue to follow rigorous preventive measures, including routine flushing and water temperature monitoring and adjustment.

The focus now shifts to the Oakland County Jail, which will begin testing tomorrow. The Court Tower and the Sheriff’s Administration Building (38E) will continue undergoing testing until the bacteria is no longer present. Further results will be shared by county leaders following the testing.
