WYANDOTTE (WWJ) -- A Lincoln Park man is behind bars after authorities say said road rage led to a high speed police chase Downriver, late Wednesday night.
According to Wyandotte Police, this all started when a woman flagged down officers and told them a "complete stranger" in another vehicle was chasing her and trying to run her off the road.
Wyandotte Chief Archie Hamilton told WWJ Newsradio 950 that responding officers tried to pull the suspect over, but he refused to stop and took off, leading to a chase.
Hamilton said the chase reached speeds at over 100 miler per hour, as it continues through several Downriver communities — from Wyandotte, through Trenton, and all the way to Huron Township.
Police finally were able to stop the man in Huron Township, but Hamilton said he resisted arrest, and spit blood in an officer's face while they were trying to take him into custody.
Hamilton said the suspect is now in jail, awaiting charges expected to be be authorized by the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office before the weekend.
The suspect's name was not released, pending his arraignment.
