DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit Lions fans — are you ready to win ahead of this Sunday's match-up with Miami? And by winning, we mean 'sacking' hunger within the community while showing your Detroit pride.
The Detroit Lions are teaming up with Gleaners Community Food Bank on Sunday, Oct. 30, for the 2022 Campbells Can Drive in downtown Detroit for your chance to score win tickets to an upcoming Lions game when donating to the cause.
Everyone visiting the city for the game or other activities are encouraged to bring a canned item when the Lions take on the Dolphins at Ford Field.
Officials said canned goods can be dropped off outside the stadium at Pride Plaza on Brush St or outside the Gate G entrance prior to entering the stadium.
All participants providing a donation will be entered to win two tickets to an upcoming Lions home game, officials said.
Roxanne Caine. Vice President of the Detroit Lions Foundation and Community Relations, told WWJ's Luke Sloan that the canned drive is a small step in helping one of Michigan's biggest charities.
"One in nine people in the state of Michigan face hunger, but what's more alarming to me is one in seven children in the state of Michigan face hunger and we know that that certainly happens here in Detroit," Caine said. "We want to be part of the solution and help those that really need it most."
The drive will run from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
