Dozens of animals seized from Livingston Co. farm after allegations that they were left in the cold; farm owner 'confident' animals will be returned

FENTON (WWJ) - A farm owner in Livingston County is upset after their animals were seized by authorities.

Livingston County Undersheriff Jason Pless executed a search warrant on the property to seize the animals Friday. The animals were allegedly left out in the cold all day on Thursday and into the night, according to deputies.

The Devoted Barn in Fenton had 64 animals taken from the farm. The animals were mostly pigs, sheep and goats, along with two donkeys, an alpaca and a llama, authorities said.

No horses or cows were seized.

The animals were taken to other farms for evaluation by veterinarians.

In a Facebook post, The Devoted Barn said they were “blindsided” by animal control seizing the animals.

“We are confident in the care we have provided them,” the Facebook post by The Devoted Barn said. “Through this super cold snap they all have been happy & content. We are confident that they will all be returned.”

The post also said they had two vets, including a state vet, out to the property recently. They were told to make a few minor changes to the farm.

The Devoted Barn also attached the report from the state vet in the post.

If there is evidence of abuse or neglect, the case will be sent to Livingston Sheriff Mike Murphy.
